Penguin Publishers hold an annual competition for final year students.  I chose to design a cover for Zadie Smith’s ‘On Beauty’.  The novel is complex, contains vibrant dialogue and strong characters who all explore notions of beauty and aesthetics. 

I represented this complexity through layered collages of prints, calligraphy and drawing.

Monoprint portraits and collagraph prints provided much of the raw material for the final design
